A plant-based coating for apples, peaches and plums
Who it's for
Growers, cold stores, packers and exporters of apples, peaches and plums in Kakheti, Shida Kartli and across Georgia, shipping to markets that are days away.
The problem
Peaches “lose commercial appearance rapidly after picking”, and growers must “move large volumes within a very short window after harvest” (FreshPlaza, 2026). Georgia has supplied peaches to Europe before, but exporters “were unable to maintain stable volumes and the required quality”. Apples and plums face the same pressure on longer routes.
What Bio Shield is building
A plant-based, water-soluble coating powder designed to slow mould and spoilage in storage and transit. Packers mix it into the wash, dip or spray tanks they already run. Apples, peaches and plums are our first target fruits; pilots are planned for summer 2027.
